History of Gorey Choral Group

Gorey Choral Group was formed in 1977. At it’s inception it was closely connected to Gorey Musical Society.
It has a proud tradition of performing a varied repertoire including sacred, secular, jazz, popular and the musical theatre. The members of Gorey Choral Group all share one common bond. That is that they love to sing. This group takes great pride in performing at annual local community events including liturgical ceremonies at Christmas and Easter, Christmas Carol concert, and the choirs own gala concerts.
Gorey Choral Group has a strong track record of success at many national and international choral competitions, including Arklow, New Ross, Cork, Navan, Sligo and the North Wales Choral Festival in Llandudno.
In 2008, Gorey Choral Group was one of the three choirs involved in the performance of Harbouring.  Harbouring was a piece commissioned by Wexford County Council and composed by Ian Wilson.
Gorey Choral Group has been very privileged in the quality of musical directors that they have worked with over the years. This is one of the factors that have kept the group going for such a long time.

Mr Brendan Grant, Wexford

Gorey Choral Group were also privileged to have Ms Oonagh O’Carroll, Gorey as accompanist for many years.

In recent years Gorey Choral Group has continued it’s success under the musical direction of Mrs Eithne Corrigan who has led the group to further success in competition, excellent religious services and extremely enjoyable concerts.
